Dependant's Pass (DP): Meaning and Work Rules

A Dependant's Pass (DP) lets the legally married spouse or unmarried child under 21 of an eligible work-pass holder live in Singapore.

Key facts

  1. For an EP or S Pass holder to sponsor a DP, MOM requires a fixed monthly salary of at least S$6,000 based on the sponsor's salary alone.

  2. Eligible family members are a legally married spouse and unmarried children under 21, including legally adopted children.

  3. A DP holder who wants to work for an organisation generally needs an employer-sponsored EP, S Pass or Work Permit.

  4. A Letter of Consent is a limited exception for eligible DP holders who own and operate a business; it is not the general employment route for DP holders.

  5. A DP is a stay pass, not an independent ICA PR eligibility category.

Working on a Dependant's Pass

MOM distinguishes employment for an organisation from running an eligible business. Ordinary employment requires the prospective employer to obtain the appropriate work pass. The business-owner LOC has separate conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Can every Dependant's Pass holder work with an LOC?
