Does buying insurance help a
Singapore PR application?
ICA does not publish insurance ownership as a PR assessment factor. There is no official basis for buying a policy to improve an application outcome; purchase insurance for its financial purpose, not as an immigration strategy.
What the official guidance says
ICA's public PR guidance does not list life, health or investment-linked insurance ownership as an eligibility condition or weighted advantage.
ICA publishes broad holistic factors. Their existence does not support a claim that buying a financial product proves integration or commitment.
What ICA publishes
- Family ties to Singaporeans
- Economic contributions and qualifications
- Age, family profile and length of residency
- Ability to contribute, integrate and show commitment to sinking roots
No published PR advantage
- Buying life, health, or investment-linked insurance policies
- Purchasing property solely to "show commitment"
- One-off donations timed around a submission
- Any purchase framed as an eligibility shortcut
Make the purchase decision separately
Assess insurance using coverage, exclusions, cost and suitability. Do not buy a product because someone claims it has an unpublished ICA weight.
