Advisor selection guide

How to choose a Singapore citizenship advisor

Choose an advisor who can state the correct ICA category, the records included in review, the applicant's personal responsibilities, the commercial fee trigger, and the limits of private advice.

Start with the route, not a generic “citizenship package.”

ICA's general adult route applies to PRs aged 21 or above who have held PR for at least two years. Separate categories cover spouses of Singapore citizens, children, eligible students, and aged parents of adult Singapore citizens. The advisor should identify which category applies before quoting or requesting records.

The sponsor, applicants, declarations, and supporting documents vary by route. A single checklist or fixed timing rule is not accurate for every household.

Questions to ask a citizenship advisor

01

Which ICA category applies to us?

Confirm the main applicant, sponsor, included family members, and any person who must apply or declare separately.

02

Which documents will you review?

List identity, PR, marriage, birth, adoption, employment, tax, study, address, translation, and family records that apply.

03

How will you check consistency?

Ask how names, dates, employment, residence, and relationships will be compared across the form and evidence.

04

What decisions remain personal?

Citizenship commitments, nationality consequences, National Service issues, truthful declarations, and final submission stay with the applicant.

05

What happens after In-Principle Approval?

The advisor should distinguish application work from post-IPA conditions such as the Singapore Citizenship Journey for applicable applicants.

06

What are the fees and exclusions?

Get the payment trigger, included applicants, added work, government fees, and rejection treatment in writing.

The applicant must personally

  • Provide complete and authentic information and documents.
  • Review the ICA form and provide declarations using the required login.
  • Understand citizenship, nationality, and National Service implications for the relevant household members.
  • Submit, pay ICA fees, answer ICA, and complete post-approval requirements.

An advisor should never

  • Promise approval or claim ICA endorsement or special access.
  • Invent documents, omit material facts, or make applicant declarations.
  • Present the Singapore Citizenship Journey as a pre-approval advantage.
  • Give nationality-specific legal advice without the relevant professional basis.

Assessment

The initial profile assessment is free and carries no obligation to proceed. It reviews the application category, document gaps and preparation steps, with a recommendation to apply, complete specific preparation first, or check a different route. It does not predict approval.

Advisory fee

If a client proceeds after the free assessment, Pier Immigration's advisory fee is payable only if and when ICA approves the application. If ICA rejects the application, no Pier advisory fee is owed. The engagement scope is agreed in writing before advisory work begins.

ICA fees remain separate. Read Pier's citizenship service scope and fee policy.

Citizenship advisor FAQs

What should a Singapore citizenship advisor review?

The written scope should identify the eligibility category, sponsor and applicant roles, included family members, applicable ICA checklist, identity and family records, employment or study evidence, translations, consistency review, and pre-submission review.

Is citizenship advice only for PRs aged 21 or above?

No. The general adult route is one ICA category. ICA also publishes separate categories for spouses of Singapore citizens, children, eligible students, and aged parents of adult Singapore citizens.

Should an advisor complete the Singapore Citizenship Journey for me?

No. For applicable applicants, the Singapore Citizenship Journey is a personal post-In-Principle Approval requirement. It is not part of earning the initial approval and cannot be completed by an advisor on the applicant’s behalf.

Can a citizenship advisor guarantee approval?

No. ICA decides every application and states that it does not endorse private immigration consultants.
